This Beat Is Mine! (*) Bobby Konders – Future (Massive B)
I’ve always been amazed seeing so many things rated as Deep House although not havin’ anything to do with it. Deep House to me will always be synonymous with introspection, be it coming from Chicago as elsewhere, such as initiated by artists such as Larry Heard for instance. A feeling that comes up with melancholy, nostalgia, if not sadness at times. These being most likely the basic ingredients of the genre, finding their translation with the way one come to play keys.
Frank and Karen Mendez‘s Nu Groove label and its subdivisions managed to release incredible pieces of music from 1988 to 1992. With thanks to talents such as The Burrell Brothers under countless guises, and Bobby Konders responsible for this epic groove bringing to instant transportation.
The ‘Future’ was definitely there back then. Something one most definitely could tell at the time. And still it sounds like around, which is the proper of timeless music…

With warm thanks to Brooklyn-based correspondent, Shaheer Johnson, for this week’s suggestion…
