Carlos Sanchez Movement – Spirit Of The Dance (Remix)

First Listen: The Carlos Sanchez Movement – Spirit Of The Dance (kenny Carpenter Vocal Rework) (Cyberjamz)

No matter what, the exercise of a remix is always a challenge for the one in charge of it. And even more when the original is a standout track. This was definitely the case regarding this soulful gem originally released back in 2003 on Slaag Records. And vet DJ Kenny Carpenter perfectly does the test. Which is no surprise considering both his talent and experience.

Listening to his rework is another showase of his consistent culture. With a je ne sais quoi de George Benson‘s ‘The World Is Ghetto’ in the background. And also of the memorable ‘The Way You Love Me’ by the likes of Ron Hall & The Muthafunkaz. Besides, feels like there’s a lot in common between Marc Evans and Lorenzo Tyler vocally speaking, dontcha think?

Kenny Carpenter is correctly considered by his peers in the music industry to be one of the forefathers of Dance Music. It was during the mid to late 70’s that he was in ever-present attendance when the NYC underground gay club scene emerged from its womb of rhythmic integration. As an original Brooklyn Boy, he watched, listened and learned from the likes of Nicky Siano, Larry Levan and David Mancuso.
Before long Kenny started DJing and soon picked up a Saturday night residency in the forever infamous and world-renowned Studio 54.

Kenny Carpenter has had many years of experience working on New York’s number one radio station, WBLS. And he has also done many guest sets on Kiss FM in London. So too is he a fine producer and remixer for the likes of Kenny Bobien, Kathy Brown and Shaun Escoffery among others.
He has released on labels like Tony Records. He has collaborated with The Black & White Brothers. And he was also part of the 2011 Ministry of Sound’s Live & Remastered: 20th Anniversary Box Set along with Larry Levan, David Morales, Todd Terry and Justin Berkmann.

Kenny Carpenter has survived and thrived through the ages. He is the sort of DJ who knows how to have a good time, making sure that you do too. He truly embodies… the Spirit Of The Dance!
