Curtis Hairston – I Want Your Lovin’ (Just A Little Bit) (London Records)

From Winston-Salem, NC, Curtis Kinnard Hairston was promised to a bright future. Destined to sing – he would grab a microphone to perform in a church at the early age of 3 – he joined BB&Q Band in the mid-80’s, responsible for the vocals on their ‘Genie’ album that spawned the classic ‘Dreamer’ and the title track. As a solo artist, he’s remembered for his self-titled album released in 1986 on Atlantic, although he would score his biggest successes with ‘I Want You (All Tonight) in 1993 and the aforementioned 2 years after on US indie label Pretty Pearl. The latter, with mixing work courtesy of Timmy Regisford and Boyd Jarvis, somehow reminding of Peabo Bryson vocally speaking and Kashif productionwise.

Sadly, Curtis died from diabetes related kidney failure at the age of 34…
