Donna Summer – MacArthur Park Suite (Casablanca Records)

Houston, MA-born Donna Summer first started as the lead singer of Psychedelic Rock band Crow prior to join a touring version of musical ‘Hair’.
Moving to Europe where she had various jobs as a singer and acress, she came to meet Munich-based back then producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Belotte who got her to the top in the then emerging Disco scene. Almost by accident, admitted Giorgio Moroder in an interview we had back in the first half of the 2000’s, while recording the memorable ‘Love To Love You Baby’. The first of an impressive list of classics including ‘I Feel Love’, ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘Bad Girls’, ‘No More tears (Enough Is Enough’) along with Barbra Streisand and ‘On The Radio’ among others. The Jimmy Webb 1967 penned ‘MacArthur Park’ completing the list, as enhanced by the recording of the 18-minute musical medley ‘Mac Arthur Park Suite’, conceived as so to say a Disco opus in various acts…
Diagnosed with a lung cancer, Donna sadly passed on May 17, 2012, at her home in Naples, FL, aged 63.
