Gibraltar International Jazz Festival Soul in(n)!

Trending: Gibraltar International Jazz FestivalAt the southern tip of Spain and marking the mouth of the Mediterranean Sea, the bustling peninsula of Gibraltar stands up as the ideal location for a Jazz festival, while both celebrating the wealth of local talents as well as names from around the globe, with one of the highlights this Saturday under the form of a jam session featuring UK Fillet O Soul, a collective of top notched musicians from Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and BBCs ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fame, with special guests Mica Paris, Omar and Madeline Bell

The Festival events which started on last Monday feature sixteen shows and events including street parades, Jazz workshops, jam sessions and concerts with the latter starting this Thursday, featuring Eliane Elias welcoming Randy Brecker as a special guest. The stage of the Queen’s Cinema will showcase local talent, with performances by ever popular Levanter Breeze and The Soul Mates on Friday. Meanwhile the closing night (this Saturday) will welcome performances by the Massias/Galiardo collective, followed by UK’s Fillet O Soul, a Jazz/Soul Fusion band, led by trumpeter Chris Storr and Trombonist Fayyaz Virji, formed in 2007 to create a sound that reflected their experiences of the many artists and varied genres they have encountered throughout their musical journeys. Featuring familiar faces such as Chris Ballin on vocals, Tony Remy on guitar and Karl Vanden Bossche on percussion, they’ll be joined on stage by singers Mica Paris, Omar and Madeline Bell.
