Last night a DJ f…. my beat! And not only…

Last night a DJLast night a DJ… I’m sure these few words ring a bell to many of you. Although as opposed to ‘save my life’, he happened to fµ*k my beat… And not only! You might wonder who da hell I’m talkin’ about. Well, I won’t come up with a specific name. But rather with the reasons that make me feel so, which should give you a better idea as to who and what I’m talkin’ about…

Last night a DJ… fµ*ked my beat applies to the countless of those who, with the help of programs, think they are DJ’s. With the same in regards to those who, for the same reasons, think they are producers. And if ever they are, what do they produce for most of them? Things without sense which are as many unfounded sollicitations. Therefore contributing to the pollution of our daily environment.

Many are those of us who’ve ended up ceasing searching for music. And that’s not surprising at the end, judging by a vast majority of what’s on offer. As a matter of fact, how could it ever be different at the end? François K among others just noticed the lack of songwriting years ago. And however couldn’t we think about the lack of artist development. In the meantime, the corporate radios have made it so hard to quality music to get the exposure it deserves. Meanwhile opting for getting finances from the record industry to champion a majority of M.O.R. music. As a result, no wonder why the whole system has become so boring for the most part of it…

I may seem nostalgic, if not bitter to a certain extend. But I fully assume. With our environment keepin’ on sadly speakin’ for itself from a year to another. Besides a quick look at the comments on Youtube would tend to show how I’m not the only one thinkin’ like this. How many of us come with reactions like: “We don’t do anymore music the way we did before…” And how could we ever blame them for this at the end? They’re just speakin’ their minds. But who da hell takes consideration of their feelings? No one. So no wonder why they’ve taken their distance as far as nowadays music is concerned. Regardless the existence of the few jewels we may catch up here or there occasionally…

Last night a DJ (a remixer as a matter of fact) fµ*ked my beat… And not only! Who do they think they are to come up with these countless poor things which they dare calling remixes?!? Who are they to pullute our environment one week after another. Eventually complaining about the critical situation of the (underground) music scene.

Some of you might wonder why we passed on delivering a Top 10 on Traxsource over the last weeks. Well, you’ve most likely got the reason(s). Because of not enough decent material around to do so. As simple as it is…
With no offense intended to the protagonists, we, on most cases, just haven’t found the necessary elements to have them given exposure on these shores. And eventually call for your attention the way we most likely would otherwise.

When speakin’ of a production, we just want things that blow our ears. From the songwriting which requires some sense. To the melody which suggests an emotion. Not to mention the arrangements, synonymous with an architecture. And eventually a rhythm part as the indicator of a direction. But certainly not continuous loops and samples the way we’ve most oftenly been left with for so long already.

More widely speakin’, would be ever come back to a restaurant we have’nt been happy with the food they happened to serve? Certainly not. So how could we ever react differently in regards to music? Just a matter of good sense at the end, huh?

To all of those keepin’ on polluting our environement, please do yourself (and in the meantime, us) a favor. Go and get yourself a break, it’s the season to do so. Just think about it, and eventually come back with things worth the listen and the attention. And if not, have at least the decency to stop proclaiming you’re a DJ, a remixer, a producer, which you’re certainly not when keepin’ on fµ*kin’ our beats (and not only)!

Last Night A DJ saved my life… That’s much more what we want. We don’t need no more excuses, do we?
