Leon Haywood – I Want' A Do Something Freaky To You (20th Century Records)

More of a songwriter and an arranger – he wrote and produced the memorable ‘She’s a Bad Mama Jama’ by Carl CarltonLeon Haywood embraced and integrated many facets of Black Music in his repertoire, from R&B, Soul and Blues to Disco and Funk by the second half of the 70’s, leavin’ classics such as ‘Don’t Push It, Don’t Force It’, ‘I’m Out To Catch’ and ‘Tenderoni’ to a lesser extend.
We catch him here back in 1975 on the lascivious ‘I Want’ A Do Something Freaky To You’ co-arranged with Gene Page, taken from the ‘Come And Get Yourself Some’ album along with luminaries such as Ray Parker, Jr. (guitar), Wilton Felder (Bass) and Joe Sample (Piano).
Sampled by many artists, from Dr Dre to Aaliyah, Maxwell and LL Cool J to name but a few…
