Luther Vandross & Janet Jackson w Bell Biv DeVoe & Ralph Tresvant- The Best Things In Life Are Free (Perspective Records)

A founding member of New Edition with Ricky Bell and Ronnie DeVoe, Michael Bivins and the latter went on to form New jack Swing pioneering threesome Bell Biv DeVoe back in 1990.
Among their biggest successes, ‘Poison’, ‘Do Me’, ‘I Thought It Was Me’ and the aforementioned. A cut produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis starring Luther Vandross and Janet Jackson, along with (other) New Edition fellow member Ralph Tresvant included in (and used in the teaser of) the soundtrack of the 1992 Peter McDonald directed film ‘Mo’ Money’, starring the Wayans brothers (Damon and Mario) but also Stacey Dash among others.
The film which received mixed if not negative reactions and so did its soundtrack according to Wikipedia quoting Adam Greenberg of All Music who, for some reason said “the album is a perfect blend for a fan of the early-’90s R&B sound, but doesn’t really meet the same standard as music of later years.”
As far as I’m humbly concerned, I gotta say I don’t really get it, although far from being the first time I may disagree with one of my collegues…
