N.W.A. – Express Yourself (Ruthless)

The existence of Eazy-E (he died aged 31 and is remembered as the Godfather of Gangsta Rap) is pretty much illustrative of the way of life being the one of a certain kind of population in Compton, CA, made famous for gang activity and crime.
As a result, he acted as a drug dealer until the mid-80’s and the murder of his cousin before investing into Hip-Hop, launching Ruthless Records that would become N.W.A.‘s home, a group initially formed by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube and later joined by MC Ren, DJ Yella and Arabian Prince.
Released back in 1988, Eazy E‘s debut-album – ‘Eazy-Duz-It’, with production work by the likes of Dr. Dre and DJ Yella got labeled as West Coast Hip-Hop / Gangsta Rap, and admittedly paved the way for N.W.A.‘s most controversial album, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ which features cuts such as the title track, ‘Fuck Tha Police’ and ‘Express Yourself’. From then, everything would go into disputes between the various members of the group with regular changes of line-up along with time.
Wright died of complications of AIDS on March 26, 1995, 10 days after announcing his illness in a public statement, and one month after his admission to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles with what was initially thought to be asthma.
