Neneh Cherry – Buffalo Stance (Circa Records)

The step-daughter of Jazz trumpeter Don Cherry but also the half-sister of singers Eagle-Eye Cherry and Titiyo, Neneh Cherry came to international recognition, blending elements of Hip-Hop and PopSoul with her 1988 released ‘Raw Like Sushi’ debut-album. An effort that would spawn classics such as ‘Manchild’, ‘Inna City Mama’ and the aforementioned, with production work and scratches by the likes of Tim ‘Bomb The Bass’ Simenon.
She’s also remembered for her contribution to the Red Hot and Blue compilation, covering Cole Porter‘s ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’, ‘Seven Seconds’ along with Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour and ‘Woman’ which would be her last hit single back in 1996…
