Nubia Soul – Move In Closer (Original)

Single Of The Week: Nubia Soul feat. A-MoH – Move In Closer (Aron Prince Entertainment)

“Move in closer. Deeply, I immerse my soul in the rhythm, in the meloody…” Nubia Soul delivers what sounds like an irresistible invitation to rejuvenate our souls in music. And by music, she obviously means of superior quality, which is just what we have here…

A music where harmony and deepness prevail. Her sultry voice getting all its dimension along with stellar keys over a smooth rhythm pattern. With drummer, producer Amogelang Mpete aka A-MoH delicately doin’ his thing. And DJXTeee comin’ up with a sweet alternative remix…

Overview
Going by the artist name Nubia Soul, Elnathan Sidu is a multi-talented artist. A singer, a poet and a songwriter, she embraced the African elements of music. Originally from the Western Cape in a small town called Ceres, she grew up in Johannesburg Soweto where she got exposed to a diverse culture and different languages.

She was a hyperactive and naughty child. From time to time, she would get herself into trouble. Then her parents’ form of punishment was either a hiding or made her to rehearse with the choir which her dad was conducting.
Because she didn’t like the hiding as any normal child would not, she constantly went for choir rehearsal as her chosen form of punishment. For her, the choir rehearsals were excruciatingly painful and boring. They were too formal and the musical language was gibberish to her. Therefore, all she could think about during the rehearsals was the playground and her friends.

Music grew within her overtime. She would often go outside to sing Whitney Houston‘s ‘I Will Always Love You’. Something which changed the course of her life as she started to pay close attention to all musical genres locally and internationally.

In high school, Elnathan continued with her passion and interest in music by singing in a school choir. She informally became an MC by engaging in rap freestyles and battles. Favoriting subjects such as English and literacy helped her improvin’ her free styling and winnin’ battles.

Towards the end of her high school days, she slowly drifted from being an MC to being a poet and a writer. Choir, rap free styling and writing poetry… As many elements which prepared Elnathan to become Nubia Soul who soon after began having an interest in recording an album. She faced major obstacles though. This because of producers ripping her off and not getting back her music art that she recorded.

She recorded 12 tracks by solely using an iPad application. It most likely amazed most of those who listened to it as they couldn’t believe it had been done by using such a small device. Towards the end of 2012, she properly went to a professional studio to record her debut-album which saw the light back in May 2013.

Since then, she has learnt a lot and established connections in the industry who helped her growing as a musician. With her latest release – ‘Move In Closer’ along with A-MoH speakin’ for itself…

Music is a universal language which Nubia Soul employs to instil back the African pride. Meanwhile Poetry is the foundation and platform of echoing voices of principles that revives humanity…
