Pushim – Like A Sunshine, My Memory (EOL Mix by Louie Vega) (Ki/oon Records)

The son of a Jazz saxophonist and nephew of the late Hector Lavoe, Louie Vega started spinning at the early age of 13 in block parties at his local Bronx neighborhood of New York. From then his reputation would never cease growing, establishing him as one of the most DJ’s in the world nowadays.
He would follow the same path productionwise, together with Kenny Dope Gonzalez as Masters At Work and also Kenlou, eventually giving birth to the most (the last?!?) ambitious concept in the history of Dance Music under the form of the memorable Nuyorican Soul album featuring guests such as Roy Ayers, Jocelyn Brown, George Benson and the late Tito Puente among others.
Meanwhile, on his own, he would put together the Elements Of Life collective with Josh Milan, Luisito Quintero, Raul Midón and Anané to name a few.
Each of his remixes has an undeniable identity, with many of them reaching the upper heights such as this rework – one of his best ever and a heavily sought after at the time – which he did back in 2004 for Japanese female artist Pushim, featuring Nathan Haines on flute…
