Ray Parker Jr & Raydio – For Those Who Like To Groove (Arista)

Mainly remembered for the theme song to the 1984 Ivan Reitman directed ‘Ghostbusters’ film, Ray Parker, Jr. first came to recognition as a guitartist while touring with the Detroit Spinners by the end of the 60’s. He then would collaborate with Stevie Wonder before becoming a sideman in Barry White‘s The Love Unlimited Orchestra in 1973. He then would form Raydio 4 years later along with Jerry Knight and Ollie Brown among others.
Taken from their 1980 released ‘Two Places At The Same Time’ which would be the third of their 4 albums together, the funky driven ‘For Those Who Like To Groove’ is pretty much illustrative of the group’s typical sound as elsewhere shown on their classic ‘It’s Time To Party Now’, with Herbie Hancock on piano and synths…
