Ronnie Laws – O.T.B.A. Law (Outta Be A Law) (United Artists Records)

The young brother of Jazz flautist Hubert Laws and the older brother of Debra Laws, Ronnie Laws is remembered for his collaboration with Earth, Wind & Fire on their 1972 released ‘Last Days And Time’ album prior going his own way.
Taken from his ‘Pressure Sensitive’ debut-album back in 1975, ‘Always There’ remains his standout cut, eventually covered by peeps such as Willie Bobo and later on Incognito feat. Jocelyn Brown.
From then, he would build himself a reputation as an in-demand performer, collaborating with Arthur Adams, Howard Hewett, Ramsey Lewis, Hugh Masekela, Alphonse Mouzon and Sister Sledge to name but a few.
Lesser known although worth the listen, the groovy ‘O.T.B.A.’, taken from his 1980 released ‘Every Generation’ album, built on a rhythm guitar line which obviously inspired Alton Miller on ‘Beautiful’
