Sharon Redd – Can You Handle It (François Kevorkian Special Remixed Version) (Prelude)

Norfolk, VA-born Sharon Redd hails from a family of musicians, with her father remembered as a producer and the musical director at King Records, her brother being a songwriter and producer for Kool & The Gang and her sister (Penny Ford), a singer and background vocalist for acts such as Chaka Khan, George Clinton and SOS Band to name but a few…
Although she made her debut back in 1968 on United Artists , she rose to international recognition 11 years after when coming to sign on Trudy Schlachter‘s Prelude Records, becoming the most succesful artist on the label, as surrounded by songwriting/production pair Willie Lester & Rodney Brown (Gayle Adams, Bobby Thurston).
Taken from her self-titled album released back in 1979, the François Kevorkian remixed ‘Can You Handle It’ stands among her highlights along with cuts such as ‘You Got My Love’, ‘Never Give You Up’, ‘Beat The Street’ and ‘Love How You Feel’…
She sadly died of a pneumonia on May, 01, 1992 at the early age of 47…
