Talking Heads – Psycho Killer (Sire)

A multi-instrumentist, David Byrne was a founding member and most likely the frontman of American New Wave combo Talking Heads, from 1975 to the disbanding of the group in 1991. Together with Chris Frantz (drums), Tina Weymouth (bass) and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar), they created a unique blend of elements of Punk Rock, Art Rock, Funk, Dance, and World Music, delivering classics such as ‘Life During Wartime’, ‘Once In A Lifetime’ and ‘Psycho Killer’ to name but a few. The latter, originally played by the band back in 1974 and eventually released 3 years after as a part of their debut-album, being the very first of their hits, including a memorable French hook.
Under his own banner, Byrne is also remembered for his collaborations with X-Press 2 and Thievery Corporation with their cut together – ‘The Heart’s A Lonely Hunter’ – receiving some remixing work by the likes of Louie Vega
