The Trammps – Love Epidemic (Philadelphia International Records)

A self-taught guitarist, Norman Harris started playin’ in Philadelphia clubs in the 60’s, often with bassist Ronnie Baker and soon after with drummer Earl Young. As the local recording scene expanded, he became a studio session player, eventually participating to the foundations of MFSB, but also a member of famous Baker-Harris-Young songwriting/production team.
His name remains associated to some of the major artists in the 70’s from Blue Magic to The Whispers, The Dells, Four Tops, and Curtis Mayfield among others, not to mention First Choice and Loleatta Holloway which he signed on his Gold Mind Records in partnership with Salsoul.
We catch him back on this 1973 released seminal gem by the likes of The Trammps featuring MFSB which arguably has to be considered as at the epicenter of the Philadelphia Sound.
He sadly died of cardiovascular disease at the early age of 39 on Mar. 20, 1987.
