Single Of The Week: 3 Winans Brothers feat. The Clark Sisters – Dance (Louie Vega Latin Soul Version) (Vega Records)
West End Records label head Mel Cheren used to say that “Disco was nothing but a club-oriented version of Soul Music”. And this is exactly what to expect on this rework by the likes of Louie Vega. A rework that keeps the essence of this uplfting R&B groove alive. Meanwhile just adding what it takes to transform it into an infectious invitation to dance on the floor…
Taken from an upcoming album – ‘Louie Vega Starring XVIII…’ – due for release this Summer, one can definitely guess how this is goin’ to be an ambitious project. A package in the footsteps of these memorable joints which have seen Vega collaborating with luminaries such as James Ingram, BeBe Winans, and Patti Austin to name but a few…
On a beat ‘alla’ ChiChi Peralta‘s ‘Un Dia Mas‘. With Josh Milan on B-3 and Wurlitzer and Axel Tosca on additional key. At times reminding of Santana‘s keyboard part on their atmospheric ‘Singing Winds, Crying Beasts‘ (the opening cut from their 1970 released ‘Abraxas’) album.
“You make me smile, you make me laugh, you make me dance…” I’ve just hardly heard anything more appealing than this. Positively irresistible! Don’t you think?
