A member of experimental Jazz/Rock band Biting Tongues once signed to Factory Records, Graham Massey went on to form 808 State back in 1988. This along with Manchester legendary Easter Bloc record shop owner Martin Price. And also Gerald Simpson, who was to soon after makin’ some noise as A Guy Called Gerald.
From their ‘Ninety’ album, ‘Pacific State’ most definitely stands as their signature cut. Thus comin’ up in countless versions and eventually embodying
the deeper and atmpospheric side of Acid House. Meanwhile pretty much standing as a so to say spiritual son of Manuel Göttsching‘s seminal ‘E2-E4’.
‘Pacific State’ led to the departure of Simpson soon after its release. With the latter claiming he hadn’t been fully credited as its writer…
