Most Wanted! Al Hudson And The Soul Partners – Spread Love (ABC Records)

By the likes of Detroit hailing band The Soul Partners. Led by Al Hudson and Kevin McCord, they would get to bigger fame soon after as One Way.

One of the highlights from their 1978 released ‘Spreading Love’ album along with ‘How Do You Do’, ‘Spread Love’ is definitely one of a kind. Built into two parts with its first one turning into an infectious instrumental. Then its second one delivering posivitve lyrics. Therefore, a cut which perfectly recaptures the emphasis around during the Disco days. With thanks to its lush arrangements conducted by the late David Van DePitte.

Detroit vocalist Al Hudson, guitarist Dave Roberson and bassist Kevin McCord formed Al Hudson And The Soul Partners by the mid-70’s. After 3 singles on Atco, they delivered 3 albums for ABC in 1977 and 78. They then signed on MCA where they released only one album (‘Happy Feet’) under this guise in 1979. The year after seeing them turning their name into One Way featuring Al Hudson, then to simply One Way.
Their biggest classic happened to ‘Cutie Pie’. Meanwhile, other cuts worth the listen from them include ‘You Can Do It’ featuring Alicia Myers, ‘Shine On Me’, ‘Can I’ and ‘You Better Quit’.
