Barry White – Never Never Gonna Give Ya Up

Classics: Barry White – Never Never Gonna Give Ya Up (20th Century Fox)

If ever asked when Quiet Storm happened to reach its limits, I would probably say that happened along with Barry White. And this back in 1973 on ‘Never Never Gonna Give Ya Up’…
Not a ballad, but not an uptempo neither, ‘Never Never Gonna Give Ya Up’ is so typical of the man as a matter of fact. In a unique style, with his deep baritone voice. Delivering a message that says it all. The whole with stellar arrangements courtesy of Gene Page. Here we have all the elements explaining how and why his music has survived the test of time. With so many artists who’ve either covered or sampled it along the way. Beginning with Lisa Stansfield who eventually gave her own interpretation of it back in 1997…

Therefore, no longer why nor how his passing (back in 2003) has left an irresistible emptiness.

Taken from his ‘Stone Gon’ debut-album, this 7:59 minute song stands as one of his signature cuts…

As usual and because of the inexistence of the 12″ format at the time, it’s kindly advised to check the album version in order to fully enjoy this masterpiece.
