Beats International – Dub Be Good To Me (Go! Discs)

Norman Cook pretty much embodies the British Punk/Do It Yourself spirit. The bassist of Indie-Rock band The Housemartins, remembered for their cover version of Isley, Jasper, Isley‘s ‘Caravan Of Love’, he went on to form Beats International, after the band spit. Beats International was more of a collective of musicians featuring singer Lindy Layton, MC Wildski and grafiti artist, REQ among others.
Taken from their ‘Let Them Eat Bingo’ debut-album released back in 1990, ‘Dub be Good To Me’, a cover version of SOS Band‘s ‘Just be Good To Me’ built on the bassline from The Clash‘s ‘Guns Of Brixton’, stands as their signature hit. After two albums under this guise, Cook adopted the Fatboy Slim moniker back in 1996 delivering extra music that met positive reviews and commercial success…
