Boz Scaggs – Lowdown (Columbia)

Remembered for his contributions as a guitarist and eventually the lead singer of Steve Miller Band in the 60’s, Boz Scaggs scored his biggest classics (‘Lido Shuffle’, ‘We’re All Alone’ and the aformentioned) as parts of his 1976 released ‘Silk Degrees’ album which he recorded along with Jeff Porcaro, David Paich and David Hungate who would later on join forces as Toto.
In a jazzy/funky vein, ‘Lowdown’ happened to become Scaggs‘s signature song soon after covered by Cecil Powell, Craig Derry, Doug Wimbish, Hubert Powell, Seldon Powell and Skip McDonald together as Brand New Funk with production work by the likes of the late Sylvia Robinson back in 1978. But also by Incognito featuring Chaka Khan and Mario Biondi on their 2010 released ‘Transatlantic R.P.M.’
