Chris Rea – Josephine (Extended Version)

Classics: Chris Rea – Josephine (Extended Version) (Magnet Records)

‘Josephine…’ No matter what, speakin’ of music, all the roads seems like leading to Rome. And even those who might seem the most unexpected at times…
Instantly recognizable with his gravelly voice and his typical guitar playing, Chris Rea‘s style got fastly admitted as unique. Most definitely bringin’ his name among those to be following in the Blue-Eyed Soul scene.

He would reach his peak in terms of notoriety in the mid-80’s. This with albums such as ‘On The Beach’ as led by his classic of the likes back in 1987. But also ‘Shamrock Diaries’, 2 years earlier. Taken from the latter, and written by his daughter of the same name, ‘Josephine’ literally crossed the boundaries along with time, reaching fans of different genres. With thanks to its bumpin’ bassline among other things…

Strange to notice it took the label two years to give ‘Josephine’ an extended version though. Don’t you think?
French combo Superfunk along with Chicago singer Ron Carroll cleverly sampled it in 1999. Thus scoring their biggest success ever with the memorable ‘Lucky Star’. But also delivering one of the greatest classics of the so called French Touch.

What’s the value of your vinyl record?
