Colonel Abrams – I’m Not Gonna Let

This Beat Is Mine! Colonel Abrams – I’m Not Gonna Let (MCA)

I suppose the news of the passing of Colonel Abrams last week has left many of us in a state of shock. With his name adding itself to the impressive list of those who’ve left us this year. And even more when thinking of his condition as a homeless during the last months of his life…
This once again stands as a cruel reminder as to how life may happen to be so tough for some of us. As to how, we more than ever have to care of those of us in needs, in a world where individualism tends to prevail.

Strange as to how, 30 years after, those famous pieces by the likes of the Colonel seem so premonitory. ‘Trapped’, that’s how he sadly ended. Even though he soon after sung ‘I’m Not Gonna Let’…

Strange as to how, lookin’ back now, the Colonel might be the first one who released House Music. With influences of his work most likely to be found in the approach of Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley. Not to mention on the sound of 80’s famous British producers, Stock, Aitken & Waterman

With thanks to you, IDMW, for keepin’ the vibe alive.
