D-Train – The Shadow Of Your Smile (Prelude Records)

Renown for his collaborations with James Mtume, and also responsible for the infectious ‘Step Out of My Dreams’ under his transient The Strangers guise alongside Edward Moore and Howard King, but also the production of the ‘You’re Under Arrest’ by the likes of the late Miles Davis in 1985, Hubert Eaves III would mainly come to fame alongside singer James Williams and therefore scoring a whole bunch of classics, from ‘You’re The One For Me’ to ‘Keep Givin’ Me Love’ and ‘Music’ to name but a few, as D-Train.
The twosome would eventually cover John Alfred Mandel and Paul Francis Webster penned famous classic of the likes – as introduced in the 1965 film ‘The Sandpiper’, and immortalized with a trumpet solo by Jack Sheldon and later sung by so many celebrities – adding much to it while givin’ it their own emphasis (and signature) with mixing work courtesy of François Kevorkian
