Single Of The Week: Deep Roger feat. Jocelyn Mathieu – Never Gonna Be The Same (Original Mix) (King Street)
Like it or not… No matter what, things never gonna be the same. Leavin’ us as at times thinkin’ about some specific images from the past. Those things which most likely have contributed to make each of us what we are.
There’s undeniably a part of nostalgia in this. Be they souvenirs bringin’ a smile on our faces. As reminders of things that got us into sadness. Mind you, “Time marches on, never ending”, used to sing Julie McKnight along with Kings Of Tomorrow on the memorable ‘Finally’. And there’s not much we can do about this at the end. If not try as much as possible to leave in peace with our respective pasts. And eventually take benefit from it while turning it into positive things.
Things never gonna be the same, and this is what makes them so unique at the end. Therefore givin’ them the value they end up havin’ in our hearts and souls. A Madagascan proverb says in substance that the dead are only dying when the living have forgotten them. Enough reasons then to keep the legacy of those we’ve loved alive. Which is (also) what we’re trying to achieve on these shores each time we’re given an opportunity to do so.
Things never gonna be the same. Meaning that we’ve got to live the present time at the fullest. And eventually enjoy the current day as if it was the very last. A feeling which French singer Jocelyn Mathieu perfectly recaptures on his vibrant although uplifting narration. With Italian producer Deep Roger crafting the perfect environment for him. Both of them most likely delivering one of the vault of this year.

– Mattia Ruggiero aka Deep Roger pretty much looks set to add his name to an already impressive list of talented producers hailing from Italy. He has approached music since an early age, getting passionate about keyboards and synthesizers. Eventually discovering a true inclination for House Music.
Friendship led him to collaborate with his mentor – Luis Radio – but also with Marco Atella and Luzio Marinelli, aka Rightside, on the remix front.
The Summer 2017 marks a new step for him with the release of ‘Never Gonna Be The Same’, his debut-single on King Street Sounds. A standout gem that seems him sharing the duties with French singer Jocelyn Mathieu. All in all makin’ of Deep Roger a force to count with from now on. [More…]
– Hailing from Paris singer/songwriter Jocelyn Mathieu stands in the vein of that handful of France-based singers who’ve generated respect abroad. A list where are to be found Ladybird, Mani Hoffman and Chris Wonder for instance. The list of the producers he’s been working with speakin’ for itself. From Alex Finkin and Reverend P on the memorable ‘Those Days Are Gone’ which Louie Vega licensed on his Vega Records label back in 2009. To Silvia Zaragoza, DJ Pope, Ralf GUM and UPZ among others.
