Diana Ross – Muscles (RCA)

Along with The Supremes until 1970 as as a solo artist, Diana Ross‘s name is associated to a solid amount of classics, from her cover version of the Ashford & Simpson penned ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ to ‘Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To)’, ‘Love Hangover’, ‘No One Gets The Prize’ and ‘The Boss’, later on covered by The Braxtons. Not to mention the 1980 produced Chic produced ‘I’m Coming Out’ and ‘Upside Down’.
We catch her back 2 years after on the opening cut to her ‘Silk Electric’ album. A cut in a mellow vein written and produced by long time friend Michael Jackson. Supposedly named after his snake, although with a way different meaning as one may guess as written for the lady and her appeal for a muscle-bound lover, it earned Ross a 12th and latest Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance…
