DJ Jalal – El Matador (Original Mix)

Lost but not least! DJ Jalal – El Matador (Original Mix) (Unified Records)

No video available for this, but instead a player!

From the vaults of Chicago-based Unified Records… DJ Jalal takin’ the centerstage as ‘The Matador’. Thus at the command of what sounds like a endless syncopated dive in the abyss of deep jazzy House, if not futuristic Jazz.

No less than what stood as the Single Of The Year back in 2007 on the first version of Indamixworldwide as a matter of fact. In other words, no need suggesting you to give a careful listen to ‘El Matador’ if ever you’ve come to miss it at the time. This is just a pure manifesto in the genre…

Overview
Hailing from Chicago, IL, Jalal Johnson, aka DJ Jalal, pretty much came up with what must be seen as a signature sound in the second half of the 2000. Thus standing at the crossroad between Deep House, Techno and Electro Jazz.

All in all, Jalal delivered the major part of his productions on the Consortium Muzik label. Beginning with ‘The Strength Of A Man’ along with Carolyn Victorian and Ovina Gregory. The latter receiving the remixing treatment courtesy of Abicah Soul a few months after. But also ‘Trak Wyze Presents DJ Jalal’. An EP that features his remix of ‘Happiness’ for Harold Brandon. Then he came to rework Andy Tamashi feat. Victoria T‘s ‘The Meaning Of Love’. And he also managed to brilliantly reshape his own ‘The Strength Of A Man’ as a part of ‘The Pilgrimage EP’.

Elsewhere, he brought his contribution to Gene King featuring Sacha‘s ‘That’s Enough For Me’ on Shines Records by the end of 2007. Then he also managed to come up with ‘El Matador’ on Unified Records. A track which we ended up considering as the Single Of The Year on the first version of IDMW.
