Donald Fagen – I.G.Y. (What A Beautiful World) (Warner Bros.)

Born in Passaic, NJ, Donald Fagen came to recognition in the first half of the 70’s under the Steely Dan guise, a group he formed with Walter Backer whom he met in 1967 while jamming in various college bands. The twosome would form the core of the band, Becker playing bass and guitar, meanwhile Fagen was left in charge of the keyboards and most of the lead vocals on their recordings.
Following the initial breakup of Steely Dan back in 1981, Fagen started a so to say sporadic solo career, releasing 4 albums on his own. The first of them – ‘The Nightfly’ – which he released the year after, featuring his bigesst successes ever, from ‘I.G.Y.’, featuring Valerie Simpson on backing vocals to its follow-up ‘New Frontier’
