Dusty Springfield – Nothing Has Been Proved (Parlophone)

The most beautiful white voice ever, Dusty Springfield started her career along with The Springfields by the beginning of the 60’s prior going solo, with one of her highlights being the 1967 released ‘The Look Of Love’ album featuring the classic Bacharach & David-penned song of the likes. Meanwhile she would eventually embrace Disco/Funk vibes 11 years after on the ‘It Begins Again’ album.
She then seriously would resurface in the 80’s with the help of UK producers The Pet Shop Boys, with whom she recorded two hit records (successively ‘What Have I Done To Deserve This? in 1987 and the aforementioned two years later).
In a lascivious rhythmic vein somehow reminding of the suave Love’s Taken Over’ by the likes of Chanté Moore, this jewel prominently features a vibrant orchestral arrangement under the direction of Angelo Badalamenti enlightened by a soprano sax solo courtesy of Courtney Pine with remixing work left c/o Marshall Jefferson. It also served as the soundtrack theme to the 1989 Michael Caton-Jones directed film ‘Scandal’, and is included on her 1990 released ‘reputation’ album…
