Glenn Underground – Man On Fire (Strictly Jaz Unit)

First Listen! Glenn Underground – Man On Fire (Strictly Jaz Unit)
Not simply a talent, but more of a genius is the way I’ve perceived Glenn Underground since discovering his music some 20 years ago. Although calm in appearence, Glenn seems like in a constant boiling process. Always reacting in favor of what he thinks to be true. And searching for the absolute perfection regarding whatever ideas he wants give life to. Mind you, He’s a ‘Man On Fire’. And this insanely fascinating slice of key-driven cosmic Jazz/House perfectly recaptures the feeling over a devastating rhythm pattern. You’ve been warned…

Overview
With many musicians in his family, Chicago born Glenn Underground embraced a myriad of sounds from an early age. He would get extra inspiration from luminaries such as Ron Hardy, Larry Heard and Lil’ Louis back at a time – the mid-80’s – when House Music appeared. Something one could instantly feel when having a listen to his own productions. Be they dealing with Jazz, Soul, Funk, Disco vibes or eventually all of them.

A founding member of the Strictly Jaz Unit alongside Boo Williams, Glenn has produced some of the most well respected pieces of Deep House of the last decades. His releases for Prescription, Guidance and Peacefrog have set the standard for sophisticated Dance Music. He is one of the very rare DJ’s who can walk the line between Deep Jazz House, Disco influenced House, and the kind of classics featured at the memorable parties of late 70’s Chicago.
