How’s It Feel? Jazz drummer/producer Harvey Mason goin’ further into Disco territories. Therefore delivering the follow up to the memorable ‘Groovin’ You’ later on sampled by Gusto.
The opening cut to his 1981 released ‘M.V.P.’ album, although titled differently for some reason (‘How Does it feel’)
Not as famous as ‘Groovin’ You’ though, ‘How’s It Feel’ nevertheless deserves the listen, built on a more energetic feel. With extra props to be given to Lee Ritenour (guitar), Michael Boddicker (synths) and Deon Estus (bass).
Born in Atlantic City, NJ in 1947, Harvey Mason made himself quite a reputation as a drummer and a producer. Remembered for his collaborations with countless lumimaries. From Herbie Hancock‘s Headhunters to the Mizell Brothers and George Benson among others. He has dropped 9 albums under his own banner.
Among his masterpieces, ‘Groovin’ You’ featuring Ray Parker, Jr. on guitar, and the boiling ‘How Does It Feel’ released 2 years later as a part of the ‘M.V.P.’ album.
Mason is also remembered as a member of Fourplay with Bob James, Chuck Loeb and Nathan East,
