iO – Claire (Original) (Cheap Records)

Lost but not least! iO – Claire (Cheap Records)

Delivered with additional remixes on UK label Mo Wax in 1995, the original version of ‘Claire’ saw the light before. This a as a part of iO‘s ‘Substain & Release’ EP on Cheap Records. And, with no offense to Mo Wax and Co., this is there (from Cheap Records) that you gotta get it if into it…

Besides, don’t you please ask me about the meaning of iO. It might be the abbreviation of “In Order” or “Input/Output”. Although I couldn’t confirm it at the end. No more than reckon it stands as an allusion to the name of the mortal lovers of Zeus. No folks! The only thing I can tell you is the fact that iO is the name of that joint venture that saw Patrick Pulsinger, Erdem Tunakan, Gerhard Potuznik and Herbert Gollini joinin’ forces between 1993 and 1995. This association givin’ birth to a handful of singles including the brilliant ‘Claire’.

‘Claire’ is nothing but the representation of what their hometown – Vienna – is about. In other words, an outstanding amalgamation, integration or patchwork (call it however you like) of elements belonging to various periods. Just like the city’s urbanization along with time as a matter of fact. From Jazz to Funk, Ambient and Electronic. With harmony and groove standing together as one.

‘Claire’… and EDM was born! With Mark Broom eventually givin’ it like a downbeat additional rework as a part of its release on British label Mo Wax in 1995…
