It’s not a problem that we can’t fix…

mixerStating that there’s an evolution from a decade to another is a thing. But thinking that it’s necessarily synonymous with progress is no doubt another one. Of course, much has been done to make our lives easier in the meantime. Eventually leadin’ us to think it’s not a problem that we can’t fix… At least on a technological point of view! But what about the way we’re living as individuals? A simple look at the things back in the 70’s should give a better idea about the why of these lines. And believe this please, it has nothing to do with nostalgia in any way…

Funny how these spots like the Loft and The Paradise Garage (le Palace in Paris) seem to be standing above the time. Regularly quoted as some of the ultimate references in terms of nightclubbing from a period to another. Places where the mix was ironically far from being the focal thing on people’s mind. And by that, I mean the sound mix. With their resident DJ’s far from searching the perfect beat to fit with the previous one. But first and foremost generating various atmospheres and moods. And by that makin’ proof of an open-mindedness that allowed them to gather mixed crowds. And this, despite the countless misconceptions of our societies at the time!

Needless to say how they happened to be miles away from what’s happening nowadays. With all these places which have become the HQ’s of tribes on their own with the help of micro niche specialist DJ’s…

In fact, nothing here but some other sign of a more and more fragmented society (ours by the way!). The aim of which being to isolate individuals. Thus finding the easiest way to tell them what they have to do, where, when and by any means necessary. From specialized TV/radio programs to game keyboards. Not to mention mobile devices and the likes… With all the misunderstandings between people that such a situation may create. The consequence, as a direct result, being that someone into R&B would turn his back to House Music or some other form of musical expression. This simply coz’ he would have heard that House Music was this or that or vice-versa. Somehow forgetting about the fact that Soul has various face(t)s whereas the people in question might find what they’re searching for…

Yes folks, it’s nothing but dividing for reigning at the end of the day. Meanwhile trying to get us on always more restricted areas. This incidentally endin’ up being the exact opposite to the idea of freedom and the ability of knowing each other.

Once again, gotta remember what was the idea of the late Fabrice Emaer when launching le Palace in Paris which’d been for much in his success. Symbolizing the health (and the wealth) of a society, from the variety and… the mix of its components. Simply because black wouldn’t have any meaning if not confronted to white and vice-versa. Not to mention the existence of the other colors. And I guess that’s about the same when talking about sounds, fragrances, tastes. But also materials and eras (cf. the Arts Déco period). Not talking about the basic principle of life, which simply wouldn’t be without the blend of a male and a female bodies… As simple as that!
