Jaki Graham – Round And Around (EMI)

Classics: Jaki Graham – Round And Around (EMI)

And here we go with Jaki Graham’s soothing ‘Round And Around’. As if there was no possible escape at the end…

Some of you might remember her for her contribution as a backing vocalist on the UB 40‘s album, ‘Rat In A Kitchen’…
Although Jaki Graham would get to higher recognition in the mid-80’s. Beginning with her cover version of The Spinners‘ classic ‘Could It Be I’m Falling In Love’ with former Linx member David Grant (remember ‘You’re Lying’). But also ‘Breakin’ Away’, ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘Step Right Up’. Not to mention the mellow R&Bish ‘Round And Around’ with production work by the likes of Derek Bramble. The lady enlightening us with one of the most beautiful voices in the circuit at the time. Such as stated by Michael McDonald. This by the time he was lookin’ for a female singer to accompany him on ‘On My Own’ (originally recorded with Patti Labelle) for his UK tour. McDonald sayin’ about her that she “was one of the best singers Britain has ever produced…”

‘Round And Around’ leaving lyricwise an impression of a bunch of successive soundwaves. Themselves progressively makin’ their way to the hearts and souls. With the aim to stand as an evidence…
