Jhené Aiko – The Worst (ARTium/Def Jam)

Classics: Jhené Aiko – The Worst (ARTium/Def Jam)

The worst?!? There has always been a thin line between love and hate. With hate comin’ up as a supposedly sort of therapy once we’ve faced the worst then feel the necessity to detach ourselves from the ex.

“And don’t take this personal, but you’re the worst. You know what you’ve done to me. And although it hurts I know, I just can’t keep runnin’ away…” Jhené Aiko sings, from her ‘Sail Out’ EP which marked her debut back in 2013. Thus vibrantly expressing regrets about falling in love with someone not right for her on this lascivicious jam embedding a sample of Jay-Z‘s ‘Excuse Me Miss’. The whole with minimalist arrangements more or less reminding of the Neo-Soul approach. Co-written by Mac Robinson, Myron Birdsong and Brian Warfield with the two latter in charge of the production under their Fisticuffs guise…
