Joe Sample – In All My Wildest Dreams

Classics: Joe Sample – In All My Wildest Dreams (ABC Records)

‘In All My Wildest Dreams’ should pretty much ring a bell to those of you into the smoother side of Jazz/Funk. But not only…
Houston, TX-born Joe Sample started playing piano by the age of 5, getting trained by organist and pianist Curtis Mayo.
A founding member of the Jazz Crusaders which later became the Crusaders (along with Wilton Felder, Stix Hooper and Wayne Henderson), he also enjoyed success as a sideman. This for luminaries such as Miles Davis, George Benson, B.B. King and Eric Clapton. As on his own, blending elements of Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Latin and Classic in his repertoire.

Among his signature cuts along with ‘Night Flight’, the mellow ‘In All My Widlest Dreams’, featuring David T. Walker on guitar. Taken from his 1978 ‘Rainbow Seeker’ album, which Arrested Development sampled on ‘Africa’s Inside Me’ back in 1994. With the late Tupac eventually doin’ the same the year after on the memorable ‘Dear Mama’.

‘In All My Wildest Dreams’ never managed to get a single release. Meaning you’ll have to get the album if ever willing to have it on plastic…
