Johnny Gill – En route for a brand new game!

Johnny GillReady for a brand round to come, as to conquer a new generation of R&B lovers… Johnny Gill is currently spreading the good word about his upcoming new album due for release in a bit more than a month from now.

The album, titled ‘Game Changer’, features production work by the likes of Tony Dixon, Chuck Harmony, Claude Kelly and Vidal Davis. But also Babyface, remembered for the 1991 released ‘My, My My’. A cut which many consider as Gill‘s signature song, although the latter admitted he’d never liked it that much. “I hadn’t seen or worked with him in a long time”, he said to Ebony.com.
“He came with his A-game, and I was like: ‘Uh oh, we gettin’ ready to cause some problems right here.'” And, as if it wasn’t enough, he announced the presence of his long time pals, New Edition, on one song, with extra projects of collaborations in the near future…

“My brothers and I have a cut on there – ‘For Me & You’ – and it’s just a grown folks song”, he said. Later explaining they had so much pleasure recording it that they decided to go back to recording and work on a whole album together. “We’re just tryin to get the scheduling together to start goin’ in. I got about 4 songs I had brought to the table that the guys like, that we are gonna get started on recording. And then we want to definitely visit Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis which is where it’s all been for us. Making them a part of our lives and apart of this journey as we move forward.”

Meanwhile, Gill is currently makin’ noise with ‘Behind Closed Doors’, the lead single of the album, featuring Nicole Murphy on the (official) video clip…
