Tennerz: Krankbrother – Thank You Baby (Defected)
“Thank you baby…” Everything’s lookin’ bright for Danny and Kieran Clancy). Two brothers who made themselves quite a name as a based party organisers and DJ pair. This while welcomin’ the crème de la crème of the Underground House DJing at their (Krankbrother) events in London.
On the heels of their ‘Krankbrother: Recollective’ compilation released back last April, they go for the next gear. Eventually unleashing their own music under the form of an EP titled ‘Electric Lucifer’ on Defected Records.
One of the definitive highlights from the latter, ‘Thank You Baby’. A bouncing jam built on some electronic conga rhythm pattern that gives it a Latin Disco feel. Somehow reminding of K.I.D.‘s ‘Hupendi Muziki Wangu’ back in 1981 on Sam Records. To which they’ve added a jazzy Sax loop and a straight forward vocal hook…
The infectious phonky ‘Thank You Baby’ brings back to the memory of some mid 90’s NYC productions. And by that peeps such as MAW (Kenlou) or Mateo & Matos.
Total madness, some might think of this joint. With this being nothing but what to expect at the end from people whose name means “Sickbrother” in Anglo-German!!!

Speakin’ of Krankbrother brings to various directions as a matter of fact. Althgouh all of them lead to Danny and Kieran Clancy. The two brothers havin’ built up for themselves a serious reputation in their Native Britain. As the party organisers of the name, as a DJ pair, but also as a production unit.
Without a doubt, Krankbrother are one of the UK’s leading forces in Electronic Music. Since their inception back in 2009, krankbrother have become synonymous with organising some of the most exciting music events in London. Thus throwing parties in countless forgotten buildings. But also public spaces & one-off outdoor locations. With the identity of their guests pretty much givin’ an idea of their taste and versatility and taste. From Four Tet to Gilles Peterson, Todd Terje and Andrew Weatherall. But also Ben UFO or Josh Milan to name a few.
Musicwise, the first traces of them bring us back to June 2014. Just a few days before we’ve relaunched Indamixworldwide as a matter of fact. This with their ‘Electric Lucifier EP’ on Defected. With the latter featuring the bumpin’ lectro post-Disco ‘Thank You Baby’.
Unsurprisingly, they came to collaborate with the Classic Music Group label. Meanwhile delivering the Disco early Housey ‘One Eyed Jack’s’. This before flirting with firing Disco-Tech vibes on ‘Circular Thing’ which Hot Since 22 came to rework soon after. 2015 seeing them launching their own (Krankbrother) label.
In 2016, Krankbrother went deeper way with the mesmerizing Electro Deep Tech ‘Paradigm Shift’. This in addition to the deepnotic ‘Outré’, somehow reminding of The Beloved‘s classic ‘The Sun Rising’. With the smooth and introspective ‘Dreamscape’ which they released in March 2017 showing another facet of theirs.
Rather quiet on the release front since that time, Krankbrother have remained quite active in terms of events. Therefore, feel free to make an idea for yourself while visiting their site.
