Steve McQueen (Bullitt)
Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen, who died at the age of 50 back on Nov. 07, 1980, was one of the most reknown american actors in the 60’s/70’s. One might remember his famous role as Josh Randall on US TV series ‘Wanted: Dead or Alive’ which aired from 1958 until 1961. His most popular films include ‘Papillon’, ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, ‘The Gateway’ and ‘Le Mans’. Not to mention ‘The Towering Inferno’, ‘The Magnificient Seven’ and ‘The Great Escape’.
The 1968 Peter Yates directed ‘Bullitt’, remembered for its car chase which is the longest in the history of cinema, to be included on McQueen‘s list along with Robert Vaughn and Jacqueline Bisset. A masterpiece served by a fascinating soundtrack under the direction of Lalo Schifrin (Theme from ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Dirty Harry’) featuring Bud Shank (flute), Ray Brown (bass), Howard Roberts (guitar) and Larry Bunker (drums).
