Mario Biondi & The High Five Quintet – This Is What You Are (Opolopo Remix) (Expansion)

Taken from the 2006 released ‘Handful Of Soul’ album, Catania born singer Mario Biondi would soon get to international recognition alongside The High Five Quintet, a collective of studio musicians made of Fabrizio Bosso (trumpet, flugelhorn), Luca Mannutza (Piano), Daniele Scannapieco (tenor saxophone), Luca Mannutza (Piano), Lorenzo Tucci (drums) and Pietro Ciancaglini (double bass), equally renown for their collaborations with Nicola Conte, on the same label (Schema Records)…
Licensed 7 years later on Ralph Tee‘s Expansion Records imprint would be given the remix treatment by the likes of “groove worshiper” (as he likes to call himself) Peter Major, aka Opolopo, soon after his revamp of Gregory Porter‘s ‘1960 What?’ for the same stable.
A timeless outstanding piece of art on its original form, just given the right extra amount of emphasis, with an extended key led intro and finely rearranged pieces of bass, vibraphone, and strings here and there…
