Metropole – Miss Manhattan (P.B.I. Records)

No wonder why the Italo Disco scene has generated so many mixed reactions… Able to deliver the best, with groups like Change, Touché or Boeing. But also the worst on so many occasions in the meantime!

As you may guess, ‘Miss Manhattan’ belongs to the first category. Built on a rhythmic guitar over a slapped bass driven jazzy rhythm pattern, this friendly jam first appeared on Italian label Derby back in 1981. Montréal-based P.B.I. Overview
Metropole most likely stands as the so to say missing link between 70’s Spaghetti Disco and Italo Disco. A project put together by songwriter/guitarist Francesco Puccioni (later known as Mike Francis), Al Festa and Claudio Giusti. Meanwhile actress, radio and television presenter Enrica Bonaccorti would complete the team as left in charge of the lyrics of the song.
‘Miss Manhattan’ would be their one and only release as Metropole.

The late Francesco Puccioni (he sadly died on Jan. 30, 2009, aged 47) has released 16 albums between 1984 and 2007.
