Mi Casa – Your Body (Da Capo Remix)

First Listen! Mi Casa – Your Body (Da Capo’s Seshego Touch Remix) (34 Music)

One of the highlights from Mi Casa‘s 2013 ‘Su Casa’ album on Soul Candi… The suggestive ‘Your Body’ is now given a new life by Da Capo who, true to what contributed to his growing reputation, brings it to some abyssal new dimension.
A remarkable rework that sees him adding a lot of deepness to it over a complex although subtly redone music part. This being nothing but what’s supposedly expected from a revamp…

Work that body, used to sing Taana Gardner back in 1979. Well, Da Capo pretty much made it!

Overview
Mi Casa (which means “My House” in Spanish or Portuguese) came to light in Johannesburg, RSA. A threesome by the likes of Dr Dud (DJ/Producer), J’Something (guitar, vocals) and Mo-T (trumpet), they released their eponymous debut-album back in 2011. Featuring cuts such as ‘These Streets’, ‘Heavenly Sent’ and ‘La Vida’ with remix courtesy of Atjazz. As many gems which got them to earn South African Music Awards (SAMA) nominations for “Best Dance Album”, “Album Of The Year”, “Group Of The Year”, “Newcomer Of The Year”, and “Record Of The Year”.

Two years after, Mi Casa released its follow-up, ‘Su Casa’. Its lead single – ‘Jika’ – enjoying major airplay then receiving for song of the year at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards and the 13th Metro FM Music Awards. Meanwhile ‘Your Body’ would be the subject of remixes by the likes of Da Capo and Mobi Dixon among others.

Another two years and a third album – ‘Home Sweet Home’ – saw the light. Thus contributing to solidify the trio’s position into the pan-African House Music scene. Seeing them collaborating with the likes of Tortured Soul (‘Come A Little Closer’) and DJ Euphonik. But also Boddhi Satva, Cassper Nyowest (‘We Own The Night’) and Kenyan Afro-Pop band Sauti Sol. The freshly squeezed ‘Familia’ completing their discography back on Aug. 04, 2017. An album speakin’ of which J’Something said“We are so overjoyed that this album happened. Now more that ever we appreciate the family we are. And we’ve realised that our differences once put on the table made great inspiration for our music.” This after rumors of a possible disbanding had been circulating for some time (source: Timeslive)

– A musical term in Italian meaning “from the beginning”, Da Capo is also the nickname of Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa. A South African up and coming DJ/producer who fell in love with House Music at the early age of 14.
His ability to deliver blazing sounds has allowed him to receive numerous accolades from many of his pairs. From Boddhi Satva to Ralf GUM and Osunlade. Not to mention Atjazz, N’Dinga Gaba or DNH Records CEO Nick Holder. The latter bringin’ him to sign on his label and eventually deliver his debut-EP – ‘Return To The Beginning’ – back in April 2010.

From then, Da Capo has established himself among the finest signatures in South Africa. From his remixes for artists such as Timmy Regisford (‘At The Club’) or Ralf GUM feat. Oluhle (‘Linda’) to numerous EP’s along with time. Not to mention his 3 albums to date. Beginning with ‘Touch’ on DNH Records back in May 2013. Then ‘Da Capo’ on Soul Candi the year after. And, last but not least, ‘Touched’ on Black Coffee‘s Soulistic Music label in 2016.
