One51 – Si Weka (Original Mix)

Lost but not least! One51 – Si Weka (Original Mix) (Soulfulric Deep)

By the likes of Richard Earnshaw and Danny Jones together as One51 in May 2004… This Single Of The Week on its original mix back then brings back to the souvenir of the very first version of our site.

Here we have a timeless must have. (‘Si Weka’) spreading a deliberately positive message of hope – “Break bread together and live in peace” – along with African chants. Don’t you ever ask me for the full translation though! The whole comin’ up with a blend of Latin (Flamenco) jazzy vibes. With ‘Big’ Mark Winning‘s flute part appearing as the icing on the cake over an Afro-influenced clapped rhythm pattern.

“Free Your mind and soul…” This is just what it says!

Overview
One51 saw the light in the first half of the 2000’s, from the reunion between Danny Jones and Richard Earnshaw.
Quite surprisingly, the twosome only released 5 singles together, even though they would be the subject of regular remixes along with time.
They eventually made their debut back in 2004 with ‘Si Weka’ back on Soulfuric Deep. A cut soon after followed by ‘Bring Me To Your Life’ which they released on their own One51 Recordings label. Then, nothing more until 2012 with the release of ‘Elevate’. ‘Together As One’ coming up 3 years after on Duffnote Recordings. With ‘Enya’ completing the series in April 2017.
