First Listen: Oveous – The Olympics (Moca Arts Music)
‘The Olympics’ or “Going for the Gold, in this thing we call Love”, says Oveous in his Bandcamp page. Somehow reminding of the Narada Michael Walden produced ‘Going For The Gold’ for Carl Lewis. Although the latter was geared toward sports, as one might guess. And this in a quite different vein on top of that.
‘The Olympics’ or “Going for the Gold, in this thing we call Love”. As many words pretty much makin’ sense. As I suppose one would hardly go for the Silver regarding the matter at the end. And I’m not even talkin’ about the Bronze!
The proper of talent is nothing but diversity in style. This is nothing but where is to be found Puerto-Rican artist Oveous, able to express himself in so many different environments. From spoken word/Rap to (Modern) Soul. With an appraoch both lyricwise as in terms of versatility one might compare to Peven Everett‘s.
Is this Deep House, is this Soulful House, is this Afro House? More of both of them as a matter of fact. Thus makin’ of this cool love message a piece of Third (globalized) Millenium. With the whole runnin’ over a bumpin’ bassline courtesy of Dre De Santanna…
