Rae & Christian feat. Veba – Spellbound

Lost but not least! Rae & Christian feat. Veba – Spellbound (Grand Central Records)

My, my my! From its very first notes, you know ‘Spellbound”s gonna take you into one of those one of a kind trips. Mind you, this is just what “Spellbound” is about at the end. Itself an adjective meaning “having your attention completely held by something, so that you cannot think about anything else.” (The Cambridge Dictionary)
At the command, Mark Rae and Steve Christian. A pair of producers who embodied the so to say groovy side of a city – Manchester – mainly remembered as the cradle of UK House Music by the second half of the 80’s.

From their 1998 released ‘Northern Sulphuric Soul’ debut-album, which got nominated for a Mercury Music Prize, the smooth jazzy ‘Spellbound’ is quite illustrative of their sound. Featuring the sultry voice of Beverly Green, better known as Veba. With the whole delicately embedding a sample of Hubert Laws‘ ‘Trying To Get That Feeling Again’.

What’s the value of your vinyl record?
