Raphael Saadiq – Oh Girl (Columbia)

This Beat Is Mine! (*) Raphael Saadiq – Oh Girl (Columbia)

No matter what, there’s nothing like natural beauty. In other words, forget about the artifices, as they’re only a way to hide imperfections. Just like filters which act likes gambits as a matter of fact. And I suppose that’s most likely what I liked about Neo-Soul at the end, as it pretty much redefined the contours of the art. Meanwhile leadin’ us once again back to the less is more concept.

To be honest, I never understood why Columbia passed on releasing the vibrant ‘Oh Girl’ as a single. With this highlight from Raphael Saadiq‘s ‘The Way I See It’ album just sayin’ it all, in the simplest way at the end. And by that, bringin’ us back to the souvenir of Soul legends such as Marvin (Gaye) and Curtis Mayfield.

Besides, how to not also think of Leon Bridges‘ first album in the meantime?

I wish we would have more music like this, with just the way it takes to go straight to the point. Oh Girl… Somehow takin’ on where the man left with ‘Skyy Can You Feel Me?’.

Wishin’ a Happy Women’s Day to all the ladies in this house!

What’s the value of your vinyl record?
