Santana – Singing Winds, Crying Beasts / Black Magic Woman (Columbia)

From the 1970 released ‘Abraxas’ album, the follow up to their eponymous debut-album, and on the heels of their critically acclaimed live performance at the Woodstock Festival in August 1969, Santana confirming their inclination for the blend, mixing Rock, Jazz and Latin influences over Bluesy guitar lines and African rhythms, if not Ambient parts. Such as on the atmospheric “Singing Winds, Crying Beats’ appearing as the prelude to the memorable ‘Black Magic Woman’ and therefore giving the impression of an album conceived like an opera based on various parts.
Hip-Hop band the Lost Boys would eventually sample ‘Singing Winds’ on ‘1.2.3.’ back in 1995.
