Sarah Jane Morris – Dream On Baby (Concept #2)

Lost but not least! Sarah Jane Morris – Dream On Baby (Concept#2) (Irma Records)

‘Dreeam On Baby…’ Sarah Jane Morris is much of a free thinker. Thus embracing her art depending on her moods. She would sing from political bands such as The Republic then The Happy End. To Pop outfit The Communards (remember their cover version of ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ along with Jimmy Sommerville). This before launching her solo career and building a real fan base in countries like Greece and Italy. Eventually signing there, on Irma Records where she released her ‘Fallen Angel’ album back in 1998.

A quick listen to its opening title – ‘Dream On Baby’ – and one will pretty much realize as to how there’s not much left of it on its remixes by the likes of Ron Trent. With the latter sounding more like some unlikely interpolations of it. And even more the Concept #2 as a matter of fact standing more as a so to say Dub in comparison with the Paradise Outro Concept, a little more tribal at the end.

‘Dream On Baby’ pretty much made me doin’ so. With thanks to its infectious percussion melted with handclaps. But also its lush keys over a bumpin’ bassline. The whole creating the effect of a deep and jazzy trancey whirlwind. And an impression of the more you have, the more you want…

A cut which I happened to license twice. This on my ‘European Sound Community’ compilation for Distance back in 2001. As on the volume 2 of my ‘Ritmo Suave’ compilations for Slip’N Slide back that same year.

What’s the value of your vinyl record?
